When people say, “Memphis blues ain’t what it used to be,” they haven’t heard the Daddy Mack Blues Band. All of its members at one time or another played in the Fieldstones, one of the most talked-about urban blues bands since the 1970s. This four-piece group is own- home and funky and the best band around for cuttin’ loose on a Saturday night. Their raw approach to blues is something too often missing in contemporary blues. From barbecue dives in Mississippi to Paris, France, Daddy Mack has been there done that. He isn’t too shy to play a party for a gathering of governors from all across the United States or to walk right into the middle of a crowd with his wireless and play guitar licks while his sweat drips right onto the shoes of hollerin’ blues fans. Daddy Mack is not only doing his part to keep the blues alive for the 21st Century, he’s not compromising what he thinks blues is supposed to be – fun, and with the right balance of showmanship and good music. |

Brenda Starr from Seattle, WA
Making her premiere visit to Memphis, Brenda is excited to be spinning at Bluesalicious 3. As one of the top nationally known women Djs, she has a style all her own. Brenda has been Dj’ing since 2003 and is a house DJ at the Century Ballroom in Seattle. She started DJ’ing blues at local house parties, and regularly Dj’s at Burn Blue and Blues Underground. She did DJ Blues Night while in Herrang and most recently spun at Vancouver’s new venue Blues in the City. While still enjoying jazz blues, she is working hard to expand her blues collection to include other genres.

J Wardell from Tampa, FL
Greatly missed at Bluesalicious 2, J is back by popular demand for our third year
He began dancing swing in 2005, and loves all types of dancing, but especially enjoys Blues. J has been a DJ at several Tampa Bay venues, plus Poor Man's Blues, Show-Me Blues, Orlando Blues, ORLX, Gulf Regionals, UCF. A versatile DJ and dancer, J can't wait to bring the bluesy music styles back to Memphis and the dancers who got to know him both on and off the floor..

Jeff Miller from Virginia Beach, VA
Originally from Chicago, Jeff grew up listening and playing to the sounds of Glenn Miller, Dave Brubeck, and Louis Jordan. Who knew decades later he’d be dancing to the same songs? Now a Virginia Beach transplant, he got hooked on the swing dance scene in 2001 and has kept the scene going ever since.
With Chicago Blues in his heart, it was no surprise he easily got hooked into Blues Dance after his first exchange's late night blues room. He helps to keep the Blues alive, not only in his city by being at the heart of Dirt Cheap Blues & the area’s Natchel Blues Network, but also helping toorganize Blues events all across the country. He's been DJing since 2003 and he continues to grow his library to find the right songs for you to groove to all night long. He loves to crank out your must-have faves, the unknowns, and tunes that will push you in and out of your comfort zone on the dance floor. Still keep an ear out for his curveball songs that make you say "What the hell is this? But hey, let's dance!”

Kristy Milliken from Raleigh, NC
Kristy now lives in Raleigh, NC but got her start dancing in TN. Her first introduction to Blues dancing was the first Bluesalicious when she was struck by the Memphis music tradition for the first time. Since then she has become a favorite of Blues leads near and far! In the past two years, Kristy has gathered a variety of Blues music from a wide range of artists, with a focus on Delta and traditional styles. She has DJed blues frequently at Raleigh's weekly Dance Blues Friday venue as well as CHEX and VBLX. She is a favorite DJ among the Nashville / Cookeville dancers and returns to Bluesalicious for her second year of DJing and third year of dancing. |

Matt Kelsey from Los Angeles, CA
Matt is a three time veteran of Bluesalicious and known for closing down the late night party...eventually. This Tennessee native now calls Los Angeles home, but you can't take the South out of the man, as they say. Matt has enjoyed being the
DJ at various venues, including do Something blue, Show-Me Blues, Poor Man’s
Blues, Orlando Blues, Blue Bella, Lindy Groove, Las Vegas Lindy Exchange,
and Zendah Grotto dance
hall in Tampa, along with many late-night houseparties across
the country.
Matt likes a variety of musical genres, and prefers to surprise
dancers with unexpected, fun and easily danceable songs that
might not be heard at every other venue. His hope is to open
dancers’ minds to new songs while ensuring they have a
good time along the way. He’s looking forward to returning to Memphis for the third time and enjoying all Beale Street
has to offer. |

Sergio Loreto from South FL
Excited to return to Memphis for his third 'tour of duty' DJing for Bluesalicious, Sergio is a huge fan of Delta Blues and its rich history. He has been DJing for over a decade years. He is the co-founder of Swing Affair, the organizers of SoFlex, one of the most successful and long-standing national exchanges. Sergio's taste in music range from the 1920's to today, and over the past few years he has been bitten by the Blues bug. A variety of styles are nicely weaved together in his sets to give the dancers a great variety in tempos. During the last few years his travels took him to DJ gigs at various events like the Y8A Blues Party, Herrang Dance Camp, various Blues parties and Exchange stops at Atlanta, San Francisco, Austin, London, Amsterdam, Moscow, among others. |
