Answers:

I am under 21. Is this a problem? Can I get into all the venues each night?
There will be a couple clubs for the Pub Crawl that will be 21+ but we will insure to have 18+ venues available. You can be sure that we are working to get clubs to accommodate all ages, but because of 2007 anti-smoking regulations in TN, this may not be possible. We will post it to the FAQ page if we have updates to this info. There are no issues on Friday or Saturday for those 18+.

I would love to come to this event but I don't know how to blues dance yet. Where and when can I learn?
In the Memphis, TN area,
NewVo Blues provides regular learning opportunities through week day classes and weekend workshops. See www.NewVoBlues.com for our 5-week series starting in February 2009. Outside of Memphis, e-mail getinfo@newvoblues.com and we can try to direct you to opportunities in your area if we know of any.

What is Blues Dancing?
This is a really good question for which we will reference you to a couple of great resources.

What is a Blues Exchange?
An exchange is a weekend where dancers from various cities, states, and even countries come together in one city for a weekend of dancing. Therefore, a blues exchange would be for blues dancing. It’s a time to let loose and have fun. No classes or workshops to worry about means more time to dance. Exchanges are for the hard core dancer who can’t stop dancing even though its 6am and he/she’s been going since 9pm the night before. But it’s also for the newer dancer looking to broaden their dance horizon. It’s a chance for newer dancers to expose themselves to various dancers and styles that may be limited in their own city.

Will there be classes?
No, there will not be any classes. Just hours of dancing to get your groove on.

Is housing guaranteed to be provided?
We will try to accommodate as many people as possible for housing with local dancers. However, there will be a limited number of spots available on a first come, first serve basis. Please register early to ensure your spot on a dancer's floor or couch. Click here for suggested hotels.

Which airport should I fly into?

You can fly into Memphis International Airport (MEM).

Do you have Southwest into Memphis?
Sorry, we do not. Please see our By Plane section on the Getting Here page for information on flying into Memphis.

Can I rely on public transportation? Do I need to rent a car?
Public transportation is not efficient in Memphis. If you want to get around on your own, you will need your own car whether you drive in or rent one. Otherwise, your host or other housemates for the weekend should be able to transport you.

What's the weather like in Memphis that time of year?
According to weather.com, the average low is 44F and the average high is 66F with the record high being 75F. Please check your favorite weather resource the week prior to the event for a more accurate forecast.

Are the dances available ala carte? Can I pay for just one day?
Ala carte pricing available closer to the event.

Will there be t-shirts for sale at the event?
Probably a few extra but don't count on it. Pre-order to guarentee you get the size you want.

Can I register at the event?
Possibly, provided we have not sold out.
